I have been encouraging colleagues to participate and collaborate using Google Docs for a number of reasons. Schools are busy places and often, all the stakeholders are not involved in every conversation about the future direction of the school or even more mundane issues that would benefit from more input by staff.

Collaborating with Google Docs will help us to have an open dialogue without having to hold as many expensive meetings.

These short videos will help you to conceptualise what the tool can be used for in our professional lives.

Yes, I’ve been able to access since the hols.. Sometimes you have to hit the back button when the dreaded ‘blocked’ page appears.

  2. Google docs (or any other online collaborative file sharing tool) is an integral part of the Intel Teaching Essentials Online (TEO) course. It is a critical tool with amazing potential.

It has amazed me, until now, that the “Corporate Educational Institution” has paid good money to train its frontline teaching staff using Intel TEO, whilst at the same time blocking any hint of coolaborative doc sites. (using the lame excuse that it competes with MS Office….true)

The unblocking of Google Docs is a major step forward. Thanks for the link to the plian english vid. I’ll be using when I deliver my next TEO course.
