My choices for the Edublog Awards are as follows:

Best individual blog – Sue Waters’ Mobile Technology in TAFE and The Edublogger have provided so many ideas and practical tips. My fav. posts have been about PLNs and the way Sue demonstrated these at workshops.

Best new blog – Tomaz Lasic’s, Human gives this Perth based MOODLE enthusiast a unique voice in the blogosphere. Tomaz has been a great find for me this year and a very friendly supporter. His, ‘How MOODLE can Change a School’ videos were brilliant and much watched at my school.

Most influential blog post -Chris Betcher’s, ‘The New Digital Divide’ gave me a cold chill as I read about  those engaged with digital technologies, collaborating online. To quote Chris, “These people are finding each other and forming alliances. They are conversing and sharing with each other. Their networks are amplifying their voices…they are starting to have a real voice. There has been a lot of talk for a long time…But that talk has been largely dispersed across disconnected individuals who were unable to have any collective voice.”

Best Ed-Tech support – Julian Ridden’s, The Moodleman Blog is quite simply THE resource for MOODLE.

Best teacher blog – Tony Searl’s, Sliced Bread is the kind of blog that teachers respect as, in his tone and considerations of their needs, Tony obviously respects and encourages them. Tony’s posts have a quiet authority and he appears to have a very safe pair of hands. I love the look of his blog.

Best librarian blog – Judy O’Connell’s, Hey Jude has probably been the blog this year I have most explored as there is such a wealth of material and links.

Thanks to all of you for your time and effort!

  1. I know I tweeted this one but let it remain here for (a longer) posterity…

    Appreciate the nomination, many thanks.

    Tomaz

PS I’ll kick your arse if you don’t let me know when you come to Perth one day 😉

  2. What an honour to be listed by you Darcy! What a super nice comment too! What’s even better is that you’ve pointed me in some new blog directions to read and add to my RSS reader. Wow!

  3. Thanks Darcy I really appreciate and am glad that my posts on PLN were useful. I still have the results from my large PLN survey to post about but am waiting until after my presentation next week to share.

Yes do lets us know if you are ever coming to Perth. Tomaz loves catching up for sweets (especially anything with chocolate on 🙂 ).

Tomaz, Sue and Jude, I say again, your long hours collaborating online are much appreciated and I look forward to your posts and tweets in 2009.

  4. Darcy,
Appreciate your so observant wording. I admire the coal face teachers I work with daily, they do amazing things and I just love my job because of it.
Now that I know of these awards, I’ll have to consider my noms.
Does one blog get voted off each week?
    Thanks again Darcy

ps might catch up at Killalea, will be down there in January

  5. Wow, I feel very honoured. Thanks Darcy. Much appreciated. I think we all just write what’s on our hearts and minds sometimes, and to think that it actually strikes a chord with others – some of whom we don’t even know to start with – is quite humbling.
    Thanks again.
    Chris

  6. I only just discovered your nomination why checking my trackbacks.

Thankyou so much for the nomination, I am honored to a: have you nominate me and b: be nominated in such company.

While sadly I did not make the final lists, it is very inspiring to know I have readers like yourself following me. Now I’ll just have to lift my game for next year. 🙂

P.S. how is your moodle coming along. You must be 5 times the expert you were last time we met 😉
